Xiaomi’s all-new Redmi Note 8 Pro
It is a strong contender in the fiercely competitive sub Rs 20,000 segment. The successor to the brand’s successful Note 7 Pro is fully loaded, and a much improved version of its predecessor. The device sports a 6.53-inch full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) HDR display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. A waterdrop-style notch keeps bezels to a minimum. The 4500 mAh battery should suffice for most users, even those who dabble with intense gaming. It’s also one of the most formidable cameras in its segment with a 64MP primary lens (f/1.79 aperture).
The rear camera setup also includes an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view, a 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor. Selfie fiends will take comfort from the dependable 20MP front shooter. The Redmi Note 8 Pro becomes the first smartphone India with the new MediaTek Helio G90T processor under the hood. There are three hardware variants — 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB and the top-end 8GB/128GB. The Note 8 Pro also features a host of clever touches, including a self-cleaning speaker that plays a low-frequency tone thereby ejecting dust. (Rs 14,999 onwards)
Bose 700s
Noise cancellation is a skill that’s becoming more critical for headphones, as users aim to shut out loud co-passengers on flights and external sounds while trying to catch their favourite during a run. Bose’s premium over the ear speakers have been among the leaders in this space aside from delivering stellar audio quality. The Bose 700s, the brand’s newest noise cancelling headphones joins the successful QuietComfort 35 II and offers a well-rounded audio experience. Siri for iOS is easily accessible while Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are both built-in. (Rs 34,500)
Asus Zenbook Duo UX 481
From bamboo laptops to ultra-books, Asus has never stopped unleashing innovations in the laptop space. The Zenbook Duo series is the brand’s latest pioneering idea and aims to challenge the very definition of a laptop. The UX481 is likely to be one of the bestsellers in this range and sports a 14-inch screen. The brushed metal finish looks premium, this is a good looking laptop and one that will certainly stand out in a crowd.
Part of that appeal stems from the dual screen, the UX 481’s headline feature and a unique touchpad that flanks the keyboard that some users might not approve of. The primary 14-inch full HD screen (1920 x 1080 pixels) is vibrant and is great to catch up on your favourite movie or craft a powerpoint presentation.
The secondary screen, that Asus calls the ScreenPad Plus, is touch enabled with a screen resolution of 1920 x 515 pixels and a 178-degree viewing angle. Hardware highlights include a Core i7 Intel processor, 16GB of RAM and a whopping 1TB of storage. Battery life — Asus claims up to 22 hours on a single charge, is another key win and makes this an ideal travelling companion (Rs 1,09,990)
