A TV that flips: Crafted for the Snapchat generation, Samsung’s new Sero is a TV that can switch from landscape to Portrait mode with a flick of a switch. This 43-inch 4K TV is perfect to mirror your smartphone screen minus the ‘letterboxing’. So whether you want to catch up Instagram stories or TikTok videos, you’re more than covered. Mounted on a non-removable stand it also includes a 4.1-channel, 60-watt speaker system inside.

The Chromebook poster boy: It’s probably the fiery red that caught our attention. Chromebooks have usually opted for sedate colours and sometimes basic specs to keep prices competitive. Not the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook announced at $999 (Rs 72,000) with its sleek build and gorgeous finish. There’s also an S-Pen (Samsung’s popular stylus) embedded.

A PC that folds: Lenovo first teased this in May 2019. The ThinkPad X1 Fold is the first fully functional PC with a folding OLED display, this one could change the way we work or play. Think of it as a device with laptop efficiency combined with smartphone portability. It morphs from a small footprint device into a fully flat 13.3-inch display.

For the perfect pearly-white smile: Colgate’s Plaqless Pro is a first-of-its-kind smart toothbrush with a new optic sensor that detects biofilm build-up in the mouth, so that it can be removed while brushing. It’s a de-facto brushing coach, alerting users when an area is clean and also adds advice on the best brushing techniques (via a companion app). 

Chill your wine in a flash: So, your guest brings home a fine wine that needs to be chilled to the perfect temperature and you don’t have all evening to do it. That’s where Juno, the world’s most rapid and innovative chiller (that uses thermoelectric cooling) comes in. Think of it as reverse microwave for cooling — it can chill a wine bottle to 10-degrees centigrade in three minutes flat.

Handheld gaming console: This one will bring cheer to gamers. The Alienware Concept UFO is the result of a partnership between Dell and Alienware. This handheld gaming device is powered by one of Intel’s 10th generation core processors and features an 8-inch screen and detachable controllers.

Pets get virtual: Virtual pets are a thing at CES. This year’s showstopper was a robotic pet cat —MarsCat, developed by Elephant Robotics, a tech start-up. It can walk, play with toys and even bite its nails. MarsCat understands 20 commands including favourites like “sit” and “come here” and also recognises human faces.
