Tech Next: Apple upgrades 13-inch MacBook Pro
OVER the last few weeks we’ve seen a slew of new products from Apple including a new iPhone and a new iPad Pro.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro is the ‘go to’ notebook for Apple enthusiasts who thrive on heavy duty specs and performance; Apple has just given it a reboot. Some of the key enhancements include the new Magic Keyboard and double the storage across all standard configurations The new line-up also offers 10th-generation processors for up to 80 percent faster graphics performance. It’s packed with powerful quad-core processors, a brilliant 13-inch Retina display, Touch Bar and Touch ID and all-day battery life.
The Magic Keyboard is one of the headline features. It boasts of a redesigned scissor mechanism with 1mm of key travel for a comfortable and stable key feel. Many users will find the physical Escape key, along with Touch Bar and Touch ID handy. Most of us need more room for our images and videos aside from heavy work files. The new 13-inch Pro doubles storage over the previous generation, with standard storage starting at 256GB and going all the way up to 1TB. At the heart of the new line-up are 10th-generation quad-core Intel Core processors with Turbo Boost speeds of up to 4.1GHz. Apple is promising 2.8 times faster performance from the previous 13-inch MacBook Pro. 16GB of faster 3733MHz memory is now the standard for select models. You can also choose the ultra-fast 32GB memory option.
Like many of Apple products, safety and privacy are a given. The 13-inch MacBook Pro features the T2 Security Chip, Apple’s own custom-designed second-generation silicon, which checks that software loaded during the boot process has not been tampered with and provides on-the-fly data encryption for everything stored on the SSD. The new Pro weighs well under 1.4 kg, making it quite portable. If you need to switch from work mode to Netflix mode, you can lean on the vibrant 13-inch Retina display that delivers more than 4 million pixels and millions of colours, along with 500 nits of brightness and support for the P3 wide colour gamut.Apple’s True Tone technology gives this device a further boost while the speakers with wide-stereo sound add to its entertainment creds. Huawei teases the Y9s:
Huawei has taken the wraps off its upcoming smartphone with a ‘notify me’ option on Amazon. The Y9s is expected to land in the competitive sub Rs 20,000 price segment. It’s the 6.59inch Ultra FullView display (2340 x 1080 pixels / 391 PPI) that is the device’s biggest draw. Huawei stretches the
screen to body ratio beyond 90% by eliminating the notch and opting instead for a 16MP pop-up selfie cam. Lowlight photography is the other highlight; the device’s rear cam set up combines three lenses including a 48MP primary lens and a ultra-wide cam with a 120-degree field of view. Other hardware specs include a HiSilicon Kirin 710F chipset, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal storage.
