Was Xi Jinping wearing the Indian attire?

A picture of China President Xi Jinping wearing a veshti along with the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is going viral.  During Xi Jinping’s visit to Chennai, the Prime Minister of India, Modi welcomed him wearing the Indian traditional dress, the veshti. The picture is going around with the caption ‘The real magic of Modi, China President went to Pakistan wearing a Veshti’ in Malayalam.

The image is edited poorly through photoshop that the resultant image shows the President floating on the carpet. Through reverse imaging it was revealed that in the real image the President was seen wearing a black suit, white shirt and a blue tie.

The picture was taken by a reuters photographer, Thomas Peter during the Pakistan Prime Minister’s visit to Beijing in 2018.
