DeTect: Unrelated video from MP shared as that of kidnapping

MADHYA PRADESH: In the past few weeks, there have been multiple reports of people getting attacked over rumours of kidnapping.

This wave began after a particular incident in Mathura in which the abduction of a child from Mathura railway station was caught on CCTV.

Last week, news broke of four sadhus being beaten up in Maharashtra’s Sangli district over child theft rumours.

The police arrested six people in this case.

Alt News found that this incident had actually taken place in Raisen, MP where a group of thieves had disguised as sadhus. They were later attacked by villagers.
