Dandiya parties and golu visits maybe incomplete without the best of clothes and jewellery. But this year, women are taking their preparations to another level, adding a sparkling smile and a flawless complexion to the check list. Aesthetic clinics in the city have been seeing a rush of clients who are going in for quick fix options.

Raj Thirumal, founder and CEO, ABC Clinic says that Navarathri season has brought in women of all age groups to the clinic. He says, “This year skin whitening, IPL Photo Facial and Medipeels are having a huge demand as they bring instant glow to the skin.”

He, however, adds that the treatments are seeing high demand among women in the age group of 38-50 years.

Similarly, at the Tamara Dental and Cosmetic Clinic, there has been almost a 20 per cent increase in demand for short-term treatments like teeth jewels (a temporary treatment) and teeth alignment, apart from teeth whitening. She expects the demand to increase with Deepavali and the wedding season around the corner. Dr B Lakshmi, Orthodontist-Cosmetologist at the centre, says, “These treatments can be done in a few sittings and most women opt for these as they get instant results.”

While teeth jewels cost around Rs 650, teeth alignment can cost up to Rs 5,000. “Women say the results make a huge difference to the confidence and personality of women. “Even if we tell them there is nothing wrong with their smile, they don’t believe us and they want to undergo these procedures,” she adds.

But there are some procedures that seem to have a demand among men folk. Snap on smile or the Hollywood smile procedure, which is non-invasive, and can change your entire smile without having to replace a single tooth, offers the best results, says Dr Ahmed Hasan Jibran, clinical director, 32 Dental Care. He explains, “We take measurements of the upper line and the lower line of teeth and send it to a lab in Germany, where the arch is created and a new smile is ready to be worn on any occasion. At the moment, it is expensive and costs between Rs 30,000-40,000. We have had high profile people seeking this option, as they prepare for the festivities.”

The demand for these procedures will continue till Pongal, when it will be a different kind of tooth trouble. “Many people tend to overindulge and consume too many the sweets or the sugarcane and need to fill their cavity and cap, wherever applicable,” she says.
