Take your gym bag to work

If you carry your bag along with you, it’s a lot easier to head to the gym on your way to work, or home from work, as opposed to changing at home. This way you’ll save a lot of time and energy spent on travelling.

Workout with your BFF

Having someone else to workout with, especially your best friend, can help motivate you to exercise and work harder while you exercise. In fact, having the right workout buddy can often be the difference between failure and success, mediocre results and incredible results. Even if you find you work better on your own, the right workout partner can force you to tap into those extra reserves of strength and energy so that you push through a few extra reps.

Write down your goals

The secret to accomplishing what matters most to you is committing your goals to writing. Writing down your goals forces you to select something specific and decide what you want. Furthermore, the simple act of your hand scribing the goals on paper initiates a feeling of ownership from your end. Now, not only have your goals become real, but you also own them because you wrote them by your hand. Both of these things increase commitment levels, which are the biggest reasons why people do not accomplish their fitness goals — they lack the commitment necessary to see themselves all the way through to the end result.

Have an awesome playlist ready to go

Experts say exercising to the proper music can boost your mood, kick your workout up a notch and channel the energy of a younger you. Put together songs that energise you when you listen to them. Change the playlist every few weeks so the playlist stays fresh and motivating. Not only can music help people power through workouts, it can also distract them from boredom, fatigue and discomfort. Also a powerful tool for relaxation, music can help to slow and calm heart and breathing rates, reduce stress and evoke feelings of peace and balance.

Know your weakness

If you are one of those people who jump on and off the exercise wagon, identify the reasons why you stop working out, and directly address them. If you get bored easily, try different types of exercise classes, or activities to keep things fresh.

Remember that everyone messes up

At one point or the other, we all miss workouts. Don’t fall into all-or-nothing thinking and recognise that if you do fall off track, make up for it with more discipline elsewhere, such as with your diet.
