How do I control my addiction to sugar? Saranya Nair, Chandran Nagar, Chrompet
If you are worried that eliminating sugar would create a vacuum, replace it with something else that is not harmful. More importantly, you must keep you blood sugar stable, which could also be done by eating at regular intervals. Consider using fake sugars such as protein bars. When you crave for some sugar, opt for a fruit instead or chew on some gum. Going cold turkey would be the best. - Dr Bhuvaneshwari, Dietician
How do I treat Vitamin D deficiency? Stella M A, Nungambakkam
While some foods provide Vitamin D, the best way to get it is through exposure to the sun. However, eating foods that are rich in Vitamin D will certainly help. A minimum of 15 to 20 minutes of unexposed time in the sun (when it is not at its peak) will prove beneficial. Consuming different kinds of fish will also help. While that helps, consuming eggs and raw milk are also proved to be beneficial. Vegetarians can consume mushroom and some other vegetables that are rich in Vitamin D. - Dr Ajith, Physician
