In a message that was circulated online, an Islamic terror outfit affiliated to ISIS claimed responsibility for the plane crash. A statement that was circulated on Twitter carried the following message. “The fighters of the Islamic State were able to down a Russian plane over Sinai province that was carrying over 220 Russian crusaders. They were all killed, thanks be to God.”

The terror group Islamic State or ISIS has claimed that it downed the Russian airliner carrying 224 people in Egypt's Sinai peninsula. The crash site is in an area where the Egyptian government is fighting an insurgency led by a local Islamic State Affiliate but security sources had earlier said there was no indication that the plane had been shot down or blown up. Now the PM’s office have confirmed that the black box has been retrieved and the flight et with such an end due to technical snag.

The jet seems to have plunged at more than 6000 feet/minute within 25 minutes after take-off and has no survivors. Further news is awaited as the black box is currently sent for analysis.
