Nature says they are enemies, but this tiger and goat are best friends
Feeding time should have been as routine as any other at Primorye Safari Park in Russia when Timur, a big fat goat, was sent in alive and kicking into the pen holding Amur the tiger. Instead of tucking into the goat for a hearty lunch like any ferocious tiger, Amur went against his nature. He made friends with Timur.

By nature the tiger is a predator and the goat its prey. Yet, Amur the tiger has befriended Timur. The two have even been playing a game of tag often. They have been caught on camera roaming around. On a few occasions Timur has made the tiger’s bed his own, but Amur has not got into a ‘pillow fight’ with his friend. They have lived happily together for a few weeks now and their friendship is only growing by the day.
World is watching
The story of their unusual friendship has been carried in a number of websites and magazines. A live webcam is helping fans keep track of their daily life. A number of people have begun to post updates on the duo on social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter. Some experts believe the goat’s feisty courage might be one reason for the friendship. Timur after stood his ground, horns thrust forward when Amur rose on his hind legs. Amur was the one to drop his paws first.
Will it last?
Reportedly, the sight of the two unlikely friends has attracted huge number of visitors to the park, both online and offline. Experts say the goat is safe as long as the tiger does not feel hungry. The park where they are cared for has been ensuring that neither one of the animals is starving. While experts say no one can predict if this last forever or if Amur will treat all other live prey in a similar fashion, literature and children’s books are full of tales where animals have befriended other animals.
