Mexico bus crash claims 12 lives

The passengers from two Miami-based Royal Caribbean cruise ships, the Celebrity Equinox and Serenade of the Seas, were on board the bus when it overturned on a two-lane highway on Tuesday, American daily USA Today said. 

A statement issued by Royal Caribbean said that 27 passengers from both cruise ships were on the bus during the crash. 

The passengers were traveling to the Mayan ruins at Chacchoben, on a shore excursion, it added.

"Our hearts go out to all those involved. We are doing all we can to care for our guests, including assisting with medical care and transportation," the company said.

The injured were rushed to local hospitals. Five people have been discharged and the injured were in stable condition, sources said.
