Ethiopian plane crash: UAE bans Boeing 737 MAX

The GCAA's decision comes following the Ethiopian Airways plane crash shortly after takeoff on Sunday, killing all 157 people on board a 737 MAX 8.

The United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) issued a Safety Decision banning the operation of all Boeing 737 MAX  8 jets in country's airspace with effect from Wednesday, time until further notice.

The GCAA's decision comes following the Ethiopian Airways plane crash shortly after takeoff on Sunday, killing all 157 people on board a 737 MAX 8.

It said the ban was a precautionary measure aimed at protecting public safety in the air and on the ground.
