Parties and alliances in the state
The DMK contested on 22 seats and leads an eight-party alliance comprising the Congress (9), CPI(M) (2), CPI (2), Indian Muslim League (1), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (2), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (1), and Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi (KMDK), whose candidate will run on the DMK symbol.
While the BJP contested on 23 seats in the state while its alliance partner Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) contested 10 seats, and Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) (TMC-M) contested on 3 seats.
The BJP's allies also include Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK), Inthiya Makkal Kalvi Munnetra Kazhagam (IMKMK), Puthiya Needhi Katchi (PNK), Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK), and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK).
Former Chief Minister and ousted AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam contested as an Independent from Ramanathpuram, and the AMMK led by TTV Dhinakaran contested two seats. Dhinakaran contested from Theni.
On the other hand, the AIADMK-led alliance includes parties like Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), Puthiya Tamilagam (PT), and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). They contested on 32 seats.
The fourth player, Seeman's Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), contested from all 39 seats.
