I cannot be dishonest to my fans: Harish Kalyan
Post his stint with popular reality show Bigg Boss, Harish Kalyan went on to deliver two successful romantic films - Pyaar Prema Kaadhal and Ispade Raajavum Idhaya Raaniyum.
Chennai
While the former portrayed him as a naive IT employee, the latter showcased him as an aggressive and possessive youngster. Now, the actor is all set for the release of yet another romantic entertainer, Dhanusu Raasi Neyargalae, which he believes to be different from his previous films.
Talking about the film to DT Next, he says, "DRN is a fun film. Though the teaser has been cut more like a romantic entertainer, there are a lot of elements in the film that will cater the family audience as well. I am pretty confident about this project as it deals with a unique concept, something that's never been done before."
Dhanusu Raasi Neyargalae is directed by Sanjay Bharathi, son of popular director-actor Santhana Bharathi. Ask him about working with Sanjay, he says, "I know Sanju for more than 10 years. After completing Pyaar Prema Kaadhal, he narrated to me a one-liner of this story. It was quite interesting and I asked him to develop it into a script. That's how things fell into place. He is extremely talented and I am happy to play the lead in his debut film."
Harish also says that his character in this film is completely in contrast to the one he played in Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raaniyum.
"Gautham 's was an intense, rugged character. But this is completely different. I want to be honest to my audience and don't want to disappoint them at any cost." He adds, "I agree that last two films of mine are love stories and quite enjoy the 'chocolate boy' image. I definitely have to break that and try something different. But I shouldn't sign an action film all of a sudden just for the sake of it. I will take up films if the story convinces me despite its genre."
The actor firmly believes that music plays a vital part in most of his films. "Be it Pyaar Prema Kadhal or Ispade... songs played an important role in elevating the script. I told Sanju that atleast one song should reach the audience and that's how 'I want a girl' happened. The songs describes my character in the film and we felt that Anirudh's voice would suit the best. I am happy that it's already a hit. Moreover Ghibran has done an excellent job, and every song in the film is different. Nothing falls out of the script." Actress Digangana Suryavanshi and Reba Monica John will play Harish's love interest in the film. On working with them, he says, "I loved working with both the actors. They are thorough professionals and were comfortable to work with. Reba Monica John's role will be completely different to the one she played in Bigil," he concludes.
