I am getting married on my parents’ wedding anniv: Vanitha

Opening up for the first time on her wedding to Peter, Vanitha told DT Next, “Our love story started during the beginning of the lockdown. I hope this lockdown ends in June, with our wedding.”

There have been several reports that Peter was Vanitha’s long-time boyfriend. The actress refuted the rumours and said, “Peter is a VFX technician, who has worked in Indian and Hollywood films. He has turned a director and narrated one of the first scripts post Bigg Boss. We met for the first time during a narration in December last year. He had penned an antagonist ‘s role for me and I asked him if I could do another role. After that we were in touch professionally. Post lockdown, when I started making videos for my channel, I couldn’t find a director or a cameraman to shoot them. That was when Peter came to my rescue. We worked together and travelled together as well. He was my go-to man for ideas and we started getting to know each other well. There was a point in time when I couldn’t focus without him. When I told him this, he opened up too and it just clicked. I am someone who doesn’t trust people immediately. Peter earned my trust and we are all set to get married. He is the last man standing for me. I sat in front of my mom Manjula’s picture and asked her if my decision this time was right.When I came out of the room, the date June 27 flashed on my phone. The date of my parents’ wedding anniversary. It couldn’t get better than that.”

Vanitha got emotional as she talked about her daughters wishing her on social media. “I have raised them in a way that they don’t succumb to societal pressures. I have discussed things with them that other parents consider taboo. I have taken them to court and police stations with me. So, there was no need for me to hide this from them. In fact, they were the ones, who advised me on a lot of things. I always believe that they are like my sisters Preetha and Sridevi, who aren’t in touch with me,” added the actress.

She also said that she had apprehensions about whether her son would accept her wedding to Peter. “He is 19 and hasn’t spoken to me for 10 years now. I have tried reaching out to him in several ways and he hasn’t responded. I asked my daughters if this would further cause damage. They assured me that he will get back to me when he understands what I went through in my previous marriages,” Vanitha revealed.

Vanitha said that she would finally get to wear a wedding gown on June 27. “I always wanted a wedding gown and ring. “I have got the gown delivered though the ring is stuck in Delhi. The wedding will take place at my home with my close friends in attendance and a relative from my maternal side if he manages to get an E-pass.”
