While there were no response from any of the Tamil stars, Nayanthara responded by taking a salary cut for her Malayalam film Nizhal that will have Kunchako Boban as her co-star. Tinseltown sources say that the actress has taken a pay cut of 25 per cent and is likely to do so for her upcoming Tamil films as well until the situation is back to normal.
Nayanthara’s manager refused to comment on this and said that the actress has never made any public comments on her remuneration to date.
Apart from Nayanthara, Harish Kalyan and Vijay Antony said that they would be taking pay cut during the early stages of the lockdown. We also hear that Superstar Rajinikanth has called up Sun Pictures, the producers of Annaatthe, and voluntarily opted for a pay cut of around Rs 20 crore considering the situation.
