The 24-year-old singer will be hosting a live fundraising concert to support people with disabilities. “Music has been his passion from the beginning. Earlier, Karthik learned music and songs on his own. Later, we decided to have a teacher to guide him. He can sing in seven languages, play keyboards, guitar and tabla and has committed over 2,000 songs to memory. Karthik is a person of determination with a gift of music. He also spreads awareness about autism and through this virtual concert, he wants to raise funds for Society for Child Development started by Dr Madhumita Puri. This event is done in partnership with Milaap,” says Karthik’s mother Rajeswari Krishnamurthy. The virtual concert will be held on November 13 from 7 pm onwards and can be viewed in Milaap’s social media pages.
Karthik was also part of the reality show Sarigama hosted by Zee TV. Dr Madhumita Puri started Society for Child Development in 1992, in response to an inner urge to see that people with disabilities get a level playing field, a road map to the future, especially those with intellectual disabilities.
“Over the years they have helped over 1,500 people with disabilities to be financially independent through Trash to cash livelihood program. These people who are either learning on a job or who are already earning from them are completely dependent on them. And now ever since the pandemic hit, they are struggling. Our family wanted to support them and Karthik was more than happy to be part of it,” she adds.
