‘I don’t give importance to my screen time’: Actress Varsha Bollamma

Varsha Bollamma, who spent her lockdown with her pup Hachiko is now on a promotional spree. Last week, her Telugu film Middle Class Melodies opened to positive reviews and now she is promoting her bilingual 13aam Number Veedu that will premiere on Amazon Prime on November 26. Talking to us just as the trailer launched and became an instant hit on social media, Varsha says, “I have been a huge fan of horror films since childhood.

While we shot for this, horror movies were a trend. But, of late, there are no horror films and this film will be something that people would love to sit on their couch and enjoy with their families.” Being a star-studded film, the actress says that every actor has done the best in the film. “The story revolves around a group of friends. I personally didn’t feel that the other person’s character had more prominence than mine or that I could have played another character better. I also don’t believe personally in screen time or screen space,” she adds.

Ramana joins the conversation as we discuss watching a horror film sans the theatrical experience. “Theatre is where a horror film is at its complete best. Every audience will be immersed in the film. The screens and speakers give them chills and thrills. It won’t be the same at home. However, the film will be a perfect watch after 10 pm.” Varsha though says that in terms of reach OTT platform is the winner. “I have already been getting messages from Canada and friends from other parts of the world. Considering the situation, this is the ideal solution,” she adds. 13aam Number Veedu was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Kannada. “We shot every single dialogue twice,” says Ramana. “I am proficient in Kannada as I am from Coorg and I know Tamil as well. But to recreate the same emotions twice was a challenge. It wasn’t organic every time as I expected it to be. Considering it’s a horror film, it’s, even more a challenge,” Varsha says. Ramana complements his co-star and concludes, “She is being modest. Varsha emotes well with her eyes and she carried it well.”
