Reporter’s Diary: Eloquent before, Kamal Haasan maintains stoic silence after exit polls
Even as the exit polls for the Lok Sabha created a buzz in political circles, Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam—which made its electoral debut in the Parliamentary poll—maintains a stoic silence. It has got everyone wondering whether party is tight-lipped because of Big Boss.

Haasan, who made a high pitch campaign crisscrossing Tamil Nadu campaigning for his party’s Lok Sabha and the state by-poll candidates, did not utter a word about the predictions made by the news channels that gave zero seats to his party.
Projecting itself as an alternative to the AIADMK and the DMK-led alliances in the state, the actor turned politician sought vote for a corruption-free regime. But the exit poll results show that the politics in Tamil Nadu continues to remain bi-polar with the AIADMK and the DMK alliances also predicted to win the seats both in the Parliamentary and the assembly bypolls.
The MNM was predicted to get a vote share of four to six per cent.
The AIADMK dismissed the exit polls as thrusting of opinion on the people while the DMK said that it would ignore such predictions even if it favours the party.
Some of the supporters of Haasan took satisfaction at the party predicted to be getting a vote share of 4-6 per cent in the social media while a few supporters were busy promoting the actor’s Big Voss 3 promo in social media.
