Slice Of Life: ‘I aim to grow my business and give employment to many’

Although I am a native of Odisha, I love Tamil Nadu as I feel it and it is easier to survive here. I had to drop out of school due to family reasons when I was in Class 10. After that, I was sent to work. Twenty years ago, I started to work at an export company in Chennai. I struggled there without a proper salary and I had to shift many places. I was not satisfied with any work. Later, I decided to start my own business. It was around that time I got married. After finishing a training course on steam ironing in Chetpet, my wife and I decided to open an ironing shop in Peerkankaranai. 

We have been running the shop for seven years. I love this job and it satisfies me. I open the shop at 6am every day and close it at 9pm. I try to do my best and do the job neatly so that customers come back to me. I treat all my customers as friends. Now I have many regular customers. I get several bulk orders and if there is more work, I open the shop as early as 4am. I do everything in my capacity to deliver clothes on time as promised. I will continue to do my job well and will never leave Chennai for any reason. My aim in life is to develop this business and grow in such a way where I can hire people to work.
