Reporter’s diary: Speculations swirl around EPS health issues, heat and water blamed
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami who has been unwell and visited Apollo hospital twice in the last two days, reportedly fell sick after visiting the memorial of his former leader Jayalalithaa on Tuesday.
Chennai
Palaniswami, along with host of ministers, visited the memorial on Marina beach, where a new structure is being built in the shape of a Phoenix. Though the visit was in the evening after the sun went down, the CM allegedly suffered a possible case of heatstroke. The next morning Palaniswami visited Apollo hospital to get treated for toothache and dehydration. Though his supporters claimed it was a routine visit, EPS did not recover as expected and had to go back to the hospital for the second day on Thursday morning.
When hospital sources informed that Palaniswami suffered from gastrointestinal problems and scans were taken on him, the Opposition jumped on the opportunity to take a dig at him and linked his illness to the ongoing water crisis. They alleged that the CM too drank unclean water that is being packaged due to the ongoing shortage and fell sick as a result. Party supporters are confident that CM’s recovery will put an end to all the rumours.
