Reporter’s Diary: There might be another voice behind Rajini’s Krishna-Arjuna statement

It is learnt that Rajini had to share his views on the ruling BJP’s handling of the Kashmir issue only after he casually blurted out his adoration of the BJP top brass to an RSS ideologue at the release of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s book in the city last week. Originally, Rajini was not meant to speak at the high-profile event attended by the BJP national president. However, an adjustment was understood to have been made to the agenda after the actor obliged the RSS ideologue holding a key position in a state-funded financial institution and agreed to reveal his reverence for the PM and the minister.

Curiously, the ideologue who prodded Rajini to reveal his now well-known right-wing leanings was also the pupil of a deceased RSS acquaintance from whom the actor had taken counsel in the past. Unsurprisingly, Rajini’s act did not go unnoticed either by the political rivals or netizens. While a few BJP-bashers in the state advised the actor to re-read Mahabaratha, netizens in the state had a field day slamming their favourite target on social media, the BJP, and with it the actor, for the mythological analogy.
