Reporters Diary: Truck driver takes ‘action’ against cop for discharging duty
Motorists are used to seeing the traffic police stopping heavy vehicles for entering the city beyond permitted hours and being strict with them for overspeeding. But recently, a few traffic enforcement wing personnel attached to a station in West Zone complain that they are being abused by the truck drivers.

The reason, they allege, is that those who deploy trucks and concrete mixers for various construction projects in the locality ‘take care’ of their immediate superiors well. A WhatsApp message which is doing rounds claimed that a traffic constable, who recently stopped a tanker carrying fuel from approaching a school zone in the morning hours and asked the driver to come back after 11 am, was reportedly moved to vacancy reserve without being asked for an explanation.
The constable’s colleagues are shocked because the truck driver had threatened saying that he can be transferred within minutes for taking action against heavy vehicles violating rules.
It is not confirmed if the contents of the message are true, but the fact is that several constables opened up about certain ‘corrupt practices’ after thenote went viral.
