Slice of Life: ‘People visit my shop because I ensure their money is not wasted’
Every person has a story to share. This column puts the spotlight on the people of Chennai, faces we see but rarely interact with — giving a glimpse into their struggle.
Chennai
My native is Kancheepuram. I have completed my diploma in computer engineering. Even though I am differently-abled, I do not think of that and keep doing all my work normally. I even ride two-wheelers without any support. Till a few years ago, I was working with an event management company along with my friends. But after marriage, I opened a shop selling mobile phone accessories near the Kancheepuram market five years ago. I have all the accessories that are needed for mobile phones. I also provide services for phones and do DTH top-up. My shop is open on all days, and would be closed only for a while on Sunday afternoon. My customers like to come to my shop as I explain clearly about all the plans and suggest the best plans for them that will ensure that their money is not wasted. Due to this, I have many regular customers. Even if my shop is closed, they would not go to another outlet. Instead, they would wait until I open my shop. A few customers even travel about three km to visit my shop. I would even allow my customers to pay the money later if they do not have it. I am happy with my life now. I am not expecting anything else and I would like to continue like this. I would like to help people and make them happy, which is what I am doing now. I would continue this forever.
