The residents of the Muthuramalingam Street in Tambaram complain that many seized vehicles that have been involved in criminal offences have been abandoned on the pedestrian platform which is situated on the opposite side of the police station and claim that the vehicles do not let the pedestrians to use the platform.

The street, which is always busy due to the presence of all women police station, with people’s movement, also has a high school situated opposite to the police station which causes the school children to also face difficulty. Residents especially the school authorities are scared to lodge a complaint with the Corporation authorities since the vehicles are parked by the police attached to the law and order police station next to the all women police station.

“The issue is not only with the unused vehicles but the problem is also with the indiscriminate two-wheeler parking by the complainants in front of the school,” a staff from the school on the condition of anonymity, said.

The staff also said that the management of the school also requested with the police officials to remove the abounded vehicles so that the school children could walk freely on the platform since there would be heavy traffic in the Muthuramalingam Street not only during the peak hours but also during the afternoons.

A senior official attached to the Tambaram Municipality said that the authorities from his office have already asked the police officials to remove the vehicles and also has requested to tell the complainants not to park their two-wheelers and four wheelers in front of the schools.

A shop vendor near to the police station said that people are not only scared of the police officials but also with the advocates, who come with the complainants, regularly. “Why should one take risk to lodge complaint against the issue since the matter is related to the police,” the shop vendor said.

According to the vendor, there is an ample amount of space on the opposite side of the police station where the vehicles, which is involved in offences, could be put there so that the issue would not arise. “In addition, no parking board could also be installed by the police,” he said adding that the concerned officials should also issue orders to clear the vehicles parked near the pedestrian’s platform.
