Class 10 students create a virtual platform to support young artists
Two Class 10 students from the city, Vaishnavi Girish Ramdas and Neharika Kishore have launched a virtual art gallery called ilo by vane that hosts young artists up to the age of 21 years old.
Chennai
“Ilo means joy in Finnish. Ilo by vane is a not for profit organisation that showcases student art with all proceeds going towards helping children affected with cancer. To be honest, boredom was the inspiration but we didn’t want to do something because we were bored, we wanted to do something that would help us help people consistently,” says Vaishnavi, who is also a national-level shooter and athlete. She takes care of the tech side of ilo.
The duo says that they are learning something new every day and hope to grow and include more international student artists and turn this into a global platform that would encourage amateur artists while also helping those in need. “We started this initiative on Instagram because that’s where we have seen a lot of art and we continue to reach out through Instagram. We also do things like artist takeovers where we let artists run our account for a day which helps us reach out to the student community,” shares Neharika, a seasoned Bharatanatyam dancer. She is in charge of the creative side of ilo.
