Civil Judge Manoranjan Kumar and Railway judicial magistrate Tarkeshwar Das were on walk late Friday evening when they spotted a youth injured in an accident lying in a roadside ditch in a bad condition.
Though a large number of people had gathered at the mishap site but nobody volunteered to help the man Suraj Kumar who had met with an accident on his motorcycle near district collector's office.
The two judges reached out to the injured and took him to a nearby hospital on a E-rickshaw. They stayed at the hospital for a considerable time to ensure that his treatment starts immediately.
Talking about the incident, civil judge Manoranjan Kumar said helping a needy person is duty towards mankind. "We felt satisfied by helping the man lying helpless in a pool of blood. Though many people had gathered at the spot but nobody came forward to help him.
Both of us did not waste time in providing timely help to the man to save his life," he told PTI. Hailing the act of fellow legal officers, district and sessions court judge Bansidhar Tiwari said he always tell people to reach out to people in such time of crisis.
He said people generally keep away on such occasion so that they are not harassed by the police to act as a witness. But, the law gives enough protection to protect identity of such person and against any harassment by the police in the name of investigation.
Tiwari said many people say had Dhanbad judge Uttam Anand taken to hospital by somebody on time after he was hit by a heavy autorickshaw on July 28 morning he could have survived.
