CMDA to examine Ramachandra College completion certificate issue
The Madras High Court has directed the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) to examine as to how Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMCRI) in Porur has been functioning without obtaining a ‘completion certificate’
Chennai
First bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice MM Sundresh while disposing a plea held, “The allegation of the petitioner is that Sri Ramachandra Medical College at Porur is running without even a completion certificate issued by the CMDA. We are of the view that this is an issue to be examined by the CMDA.”
The petitioner J. Mohanraj, a former police officer, had contended that his query to CMDA as to whether the college had obtained completion certificate for the complex revealed that the college had not even bothered to apply for completion certificate.
Based on this, a letter was written to the Government to clarify how other services like electricity and water supply were provided to the institution, he said.
Pointing out that there was no meaning in having an organisation like CMDA when a medical college functioned without even bothering to apply for a completion certificate, he had sought to direct the Chief Secretary and CMDA to dispose of his representation made on November 2, 2015 regarding SRMCRI.
