The boy Vishwa is the second son of couple Guru and Premalatha, who work as daily labourers. The boy was playing outside the house in Kallukuttai. Since he did not return home after hours, Premalatha started searching for him but in vain.

Later, she informed her husband Guru and they both filed a missing complaint at Thoraipakkam police station. A team led by inspector Sreenivasan combed the CCTV footage from the locality, which revealed Vishwa going with an unidentified person. The man in the video is seen carrying a plastic bag while Vishwa follows him to cross the road. Police suspect that the person could be known to the family, though his identity is yet to be established.

Earlier this month, police arrested two women at Kannagi Nagar for kidnapping a one-year-old boy from the pavement near Chennai Central railway station and rescued the kid.

Since September this year, the city witnessed as many as four cases of child kidnapping and all the four children were rescued by the police.
