‘Palak paneer is my saviour during shoots’
The actress shares her favourite food memories.
Chennai
Most memorable cooking experience:
I love to make panchratna dal using whatever veggies available at home. My family loves my preparation and they often asked me to cook it when I am at home. They have it with paratha and rice. It’s easy to make and has all the nutrients.
Cooking disaster:
One day, I decided to make bhindi ki subzi. Like any other vegetable preparation, I added a lot of water in it and it became sticky. It was the worst dish anyone can make, but my family still ate it. Another disaster was when I made batata vada on a kerosene stove. It was challenging and we all had fun that day.
Favourite cuisine:
I am a big foodie, so it is difficult to pick one. I love homemade food and khichdi is my all-time favourite. The preparations differ from one state to another. At my home, we make it with moong dal. But in Tamil Nadu, they add rice too.
Favourite food destination:
Whenever I travel abroad, I make sure to try out the local cuisine. I love to eat pizza and pasta from local joints in Venice. Whenever I visit Italy, I buy a variety of sauces and bring it back to India.
Comfort food:
That would be palak paneer. Once, while shooting at an off-beat location in Goa, I had palak paneer and roti for 25 days continuously for lunch and dinner. There was a point when my producer asked me if I am okay!
