    Tripura native hacked to death, hunt on for roommates

    Police have launched a hunt for the three roommates who allegedly hacked a 24-year-old migrant worker from Tripura to death in their rented house in Velachery on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Jithu, who worked in a restaurant.

    He had been staying in the house for over a year, while three men from Assam, who also work in restaurants, started sharing the house with him recently. On Friday night, all four of them were consuming alcohol at their house, when a fight broke out. “The three men are suspected to have hacked him multiple times and murdered him,” said police. After finding the house open, the landlord entered to see Jithu lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead. On information, Velachery police registered a case. As his roommates are absconding, police suspect that they could have murdered him, and have launched a hunt.
