Dalit girl found dead with bruises, boyfriend detained
A week after a 20-year-old Dalit girl from Kancheepuram went missing, she was found hanging with stab marks and burn injuries in a private garden near Walajabad on Thursday. Police have detained her boyfriend for inquiry as she was last spotted with him.

The deceased identifies as B Roja (20) of Aandi Siruvallur village near Walajabad, was employed at a private firm in Kancheepuram, said police. Roja who went for work on November 21 did not returnhome and her family lodged a complaint at Kancheepuram Taluk police station on November 23.
However, on Wednesday, the girl was found hanging in a private garden just two kilometres away from her house. “The garden belongs to a politician,” police said.
Investigation revealed that Roja was in relationship with R Rajesh, a 30-year-old, from the neighbouring Karai village. Rajesh was found to be already married and has two children, police added.
On November 21, Roja’s family who contacted Rajesh was told he would drop her back home, police said. However, later he told her parents that she left forhome herself before she was found dead with bruises on Thursday.
Roja’s father Boopathi has mentioned in his complaint that Rajesh and his friends might have gang-raped her daughter and murdered her.
However, police have registered a case under section 306 of IPC (Abetment to suicide) and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Police said that the sections would be altered if required based on the post-mortem results. Roja’s body has been sent to Kancheepuram Government Hospital and investigation is under way.
Tiruvallur man’s body found in bushes
In another similar incident in Tiruvallur district, a 23-year-old man was found dead in the bushes in a village on Thursday. The deceased R Manoj from Bajanai Koil street in Avadi went out with his friend Aakash on Wednesday evening. He did not return home since then after the meeting with this friend. since then. Meanwhile, residents of Kavalcheri village spotted him dead with injury marks near a cemetery. Immediately the residents alerted Vellavedu police. The police rushed the spot and a case has been registered, A hunt has been launched for his absconding friend Aakash, with whom he was last spotted.
