1,251 receive degrees at Anna Univ convocation
The 40th Annual Convocation of Anna University was held on Tuesday at the Anna Centenary Library Auditorium.

Prof MK Surappa, vice-chancellor, Anna University, welcomed the gathering and presented the academic achievements of the University during the period from January 2019 to November 2019.
Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chancellor, Anna University, presided overthe function.
A total of 1,180 (Male: 703 and Female: 477) Ph D degree holders and 71 (Male: 32 and Female: 39) first rank holders of full Time B E/B Tech/B Arch degree programmes offered at University Departments and Affiliated Colleges received their degrees and gold medals from the Governor.
During her convocation address, Prof Gangandeep Kang, Executive Director, Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, said to all the graduating students to be brave, accountable and have a contingency plan.
“Being courageous and brave is not easy. Our society expects us to succeed, recognises success and looks down on failure. Today, you have achieved success, but in the future, do not be afraid of failure. In our personal and professional lives, ambition requires bravery,” she added.
Stating that every student should have Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), she said everyone is needed to contribute to reach these ambitious targets. “The creativity, know-how, technology and financial resources from all of society is necessary to achieve the SDGs in every context,” she said.
