2 held for sexually assaulting minors

In the first incident, a Class 9 student was rescued by Child Line officers at Egmore Railway Station on Friday evening when she was waiting to board a train to Vriddhachalam with one Anbalagan. The officers secured them on suspicion and interrogation revealed that they were going to Anbazhagan’s hometown. They were handed over to the Triplicane all-women police station. The police said that she developed a relationship with Anbazhagan, who works at a shop selling earphones on Marina beach. Since she told the police that he sexually assaulted on the promise of marrying her, the police booked Anbalagan under Pocso Act. The medical examination proved that she underwent abuse and police remanded him in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the Ayanavaram all-women police arrested a 55-year-old man for molesting a five-year-old girl. The accused, Raja (55), owns a van in which he drops schoolchildren. The victim was the last one to be dropped. “He took advantage of the lone drop to sexually abuse her,” the police said. After the girl fell ill, she was taken to the doctor who confirmed that she has been sexually assaulted.
