    Manikandan (31), a resident of Soorathamman Koil street in New Perungalathur, is involved in catering business. A few days ago, he had left the town for personal work leaving his wife at his mother’s house. When Manikandan returned home on Friday night, he found the front door was broken and 13-sovereign ornaments along with Rs 1.5 lakh in cash were missing.


    Manikandan filed a complaint at the Peerkankaranai police station. Police are checking the CCTV footage from the neighbourhood to identify the burglars.


    In another incident, the apartment of Murugan, a software engineer, in Krishna Nagar near Mudichur was targeted by the thieves. Police said Murugan’s wife is pregnant and his family had gone to Coimbatore to her wife’s house. On Saturday morning when Murugan returned home, he found the front door broken and 70 sovereigns missing from the house.


    Burglars also looted Rs 30,000 from his neighbour Santhosh’s house, who too was out of town. The Tambaram police registered a case and are checking the CCTV footage to identify the thieves.
