    Woman held for killing husband

    Thiru Vi Ka Nagar police arrested a woman on Sunday for allegedly killing her husband by pouring hot cooking oil on him after an argument broke out between them last Monday. The man died on Saturday night.

    The woman was identified as Nazrin, wife of the victim Ubayd Ali, 37-year-old, a resident of Krishna Nagar. He was employed at a mobile phone service unit in Parry’s Corner.


    The couple was married for 12 years and have two daughters. Police said that there were continuous arguments between them due to differences in opinions. On Monday morning, when Ubayd Ali returned home after dropping children at school, an argument broke out between the couple and Nazrin allegedly poured hot cooking oil on her husband and fled the spot. While neighbours rushed him to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for treatment, on information Thiru Vi Ka Nagar police rushed to the spot. Following this, a case was registered.


    Though Nazrin was detained initially for injuring husband, she was arrested under murder charges.
