The Tirumangalam all-women police personnel have registered a case against the IRS officer identified as Bala Muralidahran after he called off his proposed marriage with a woman.
He demanded Rs 50 lakh as dowry and insisted the bride’s family to register a property worth Rs 3.50crore in his mother’s name before the two get married.
The bride is a doctor at a corporate hospital. Her family had already spent nearly Rs 22 lakh for the preparations for the wedding. The two families had decided on the marriage in 2018.
The issue over dowry started after the bride’s family started distributing wedding invitation cards. The groom’s father is a retired deputy superintendent of police. After the wedding was called off, the bride approached the Tirumangalam all-women police.
