However, an official said that the proposal is in the initial stages and would take some time to procure the machines and install them at the diagnostic centres. Each mammography machine would cost the civic body around Rs 18 lakhs. Presently, the civic body runs six diagnostic centres in Perambur, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Anna Nagar, Valluvar Kottam, Saidapet and Tiruvanmiyur. At these centres, x-ray, ECG and ultra sonogram services are provided, while dialysis units function at the diagnostic centres at Valluvar Kottam and Perambur.
