Man threatens 16-yr-old girl with obscene clip, arrested

Police said that the accused, Magesh of Manali, befriended the 16-year-old girl from Anna Nagar on Instagram by opening an account in a woman’s name. When he sent her messages with sexual overtones around 4 am on Wednesday, she blocked him. However, he opened another account in a woman’s name and contacted her again. Believing it to be a woman, the girl reportedly shared her phone number.

Magesh made a video call to the victim hiding his identity when she was bathing and recorded the entire conversation. On December 27, he allegedly threatened the girl that he would leak her nude videos online if she did not accede to his sexual demands.

Panicked by this, the girl informed her parents who lodged a complaint at Anna Nagar all-women police station. A case was registered and the accused was nabbed.

Meanwhile, the Puzhal police have arrested a 25-year-old man for sexually assaulting a mentally ill minor girl. The victim became mentally disturbed after her mother passed away recently. The accused Chinthamani (52), an electrician, is the her neighbour, said police. Chinthamani invited her to his house to have dinner and allegedly misbehaved with her. After she informed her relatives about it, a complaint was lodged at Puzhal all-women police station. The police conducted an inquiry and arrested him under Pocso Act, and remanded him in judicial custody.
