Television actress among four held for murdering man

The deceased M Ravi (38) of Madurai was into the film industry said police. The accused have been identified as S Devi (42) of Korattur, her husband B Sankar (49), her sister Lakshmi S Lakshmi (40) of Kolathur and the latter's husband Sawariyar (53).

Police said that Devi who was a small-time actress in the television industry developed a relationship with Ravi eight years ago. But she snapped the relationship two years ago after her family members persuaded her and worked as a tailor at home. Her husband Sankar runs a furniture shop in Teynampet.

However, Ravi is said to have reached Devi's sister Lakshmi's house at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Kolathur under the influence of alcohol around 1.30 am on Sunday thinking that it was Devi's house.

Lakshmi informed Devi on phone about Ravi after which Devi and Sankar reached their house. An argument erupted between them and in the melee, Devi and Lakshmi attacked Ravi with wooden logs and hit his head with a hammer.

While Ravi died on the spot, Devi herself visited the Rajamangalam police station and informed about Ravi's death. Police secured her, while a team of police personnel rushed to the spot and retrieved Ravi's body to send it to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. The other three were also secured and further investigation is on.
