TV actor Jayashree consumes sleeping pills in bid to kill self

The police said that Jayashree went to attend a social camp in Guduvanchery with her friends on Tuesday. She told her friends she was not feeling well and left the premises. However, instead of going home, she is said to have consumed sleeping pills she had kept in her car. Her friends who noticed her car when they returned found Jayashree lying unconscious and rushed her to a nearby private hospital. She was shifted to another private hospital on Wednesday where she is said to have been admitted at intensive care unit.

When contacted, the Neelankarai police said that Jayashree is out of danger. Her mother has lodged a complaint alleging that Eashwar was still harassing her.

Jayashree, who has played major roles in a number of TV serials, separated from her first husband Ragunath and married Eashwar. They were staying at an apartment in Tiruvanmiyur. A few weeks ago, Jayashree lodged a complaint against Eashwar at the Adyar all-women police station that he has been harassing her for dowry. She added that he also has an affair with another woman, also a television actress. Eashwer, who was remanded in the case, recently came out on bail and allegedly threatened her.
