The accused were identified as Sampath alias Vijay and Kumaran of Iyyapanthangal, Gnanasekar of Tiruvannamalai and Sultana Khan of Mangadu. The police said that the four accused approached a manpower agency in Kancheepuram a few months ago posing as Human Resource managers of popular automobile firms in Sriperumpudur and offered to recruit engineering graduates, diploma holders and ITI certificate holders for various positions.

Believing them, 59 teens, including girls, paid money to attend interviews and received offer letters to join Yamaha Motors. However, when they visited the automobile unit, they were told that the offer letters were fake.

The affected teens approached Vijay and Kumaran. But the duo took another Rs 3 lakh from them on the promise of finding jobs at Renault and Nissan and went into hiding.

After they realised that they have been cheated, the victims submitted a petition to Kancheepuram DSP (DCB) Thennarasu. An inquiry was initiated and the accused were secured.
