Following his death, hundreds of the staff protested outside the hotel claiming that the management was the reason for his suicide.

The deceased, R Palaniappan, was a resident of Brindavan street at Chinna Kancheepuram. He was a senior manager of three branches of the hotel in Kancheepuram.

Police sources said that Palaniappan did not come to work on Thursday. As he had not informed about the leave or left no one in charge, some of the staff members visited his house. But his room was locked from inside. On suspicion, they broke open the door and found Palaniappan hanging from the ceiling using a nylon rope.

The Sivakanchi police team that arrived at the spot retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to Kancheepuram Government Hospital. Meanwhile, the news spread among the staff and hundreds of them gathered in front of the hotel to protest against the management.

Sources said that the staff had not been receiving salaries for the past few months. On seeing their struggle, Palaniappan used to give them money from the sales income. Recently, the management came to know about this and warned Palaniappan.
