Supporting actor kills self at Tiruvottiyur

The deceased, P Padmaja, was staying alone in the house in Kaladipet for the past few months after being separated from her husband Pawan due to differences. He had left to his hometown in Andhra Pradesh, and their two-year-old son is being raised at a relative’s house, said the police.

As Padmaja did not step out on Sunday morning, the house owner, S Kasinathan, grew suspicious and alerted the Tiruvottiyur police. When the house was broken open in the presence of police, Padmaja was found hanging from the ceiling fan. Her body was removed and sent to Government Stanley Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that Padmaja broke down over her financial status during a video call to her sister on Saturday night. A case has been registered and an inquiry by Revenue Divisional Official (RDO) has been initiated as she had gotten married only three years ago.

A 41-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit at her house in Sriperumpudur on Sunday. However, the suicide note retrieved from the house claimed that the deceased, Suryakala (41), ended her life as she was unable to bear chest pain for the last few months after she met with an accident.

On Saturday, Suryakala’s husband Kungumaraj (44), an engineer at a factory in Sriperumbudur, left for work. When her two sons aged 14 and 13 woke up on Sunday morning, they found her mother lying dead in a pool of blood. On information, the Sriperumpudur police rushed to the spot and sent her body for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and Kungumaraj isbeing interrogated.
