Two held for killing lawyer in drunk brawl
Two persons were arrested by the police for murdering their advocate friend in a drunken brawl near Pallikaranai on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as S Raghav (27), an advocate from Tirunelveli. The police arrested K Karikalan (23) of Ariyalur, an engineering graduate and S Ramanan (25) of Thenkasi, a site engineer in a private construction firm, for the murder. According to the police, Raghav recently came for work in Chennai and was staying with Karikalan and Ramanan in their room at Sithalapakkam. On Wednesday night, the friends had gone to a Tasmac bar for consuming liquor and since the bar was about to be closed they brought the liquor and consumed it on a vacant land near a marriage hall in Sithalapakkam. While consuming liquor a quarrel broke-out between them and Raghav had attacked Ramanan and Karikalan. In a fit of rage, Ramanan and Karikalan took a stone and smashed the victim’s head before returning to the room, the police said after the inquiry. In the morning the locals who noticed the man lying dead with injuries informed the Pallikaranai police. The police team who arrived at the spot, retrieved the body and sent it for autopsy to Chromepet government hospital.
The police zeroed the culprits with the help of CCTV footages and arrested them from their house. Karikalan and Ramanan had told the police that they were not aware that Raghav had died. Police who registered a case arrested both, remanded them in judicial custody.
