    Four held for double murder in Ponneri

    Four days after two men were murdered near Ponneri, the police arrested four suspects in connection with the case. The accused were identified as Suhan (22), Deepan (22), Ranjith (22) and Jayaprakash (23). They were secured by a special team headed by Ponneri ASP Pawan Kumar Reddy.

    Veera (24) and Sudhakar (28) of Venpakkam village were found dead with injuries at a playground in Veladu village near Ponneri. Preliminary inquiries revealed that they were murdered over an argument. A special team was formed to nab the suspects.

    The police said that Jayaprakash from Aaladu village led the attack with the others. The deceased duo had gone there to talk on behalf of one Gowtham, who was in a relationship with a girl from the village. 

    Jayaprakash is also said to have had romantic interests for the girl and that led to an argument and the subsequent murder. 

    Man from Jharkhand killed 

    A 26-year-old man from Jharkhand was found dead with injuries near Gummidipoondi on Wednesday and the police are investigating whether he was murdered by his missing friends during Holi celebrations. 

    The deceased, Anil Doodu, was an employee of a steel plant at Thandalacheri near Gummidipoondi, while his wife and children live in Jharkhand. 

    On Wednesday, passers-by found him lying dead at a playground near a Tasmac outlet and alerted the Kavarapettai police. The police removed the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Inquiries revealed that Anil was celebrating Holi with a few others on the same spot the previous night. The police suspect that he could have been murdered in a sudden provocation and have launched a hunt for the suspects. Further investigation is on.
