Northeast migrant workers provided with essentials
About 90 migrant workers from northeast states, including 15 women, who were stranded in the city due to the nationwide lockdown, were provided with essentials by Kilpauk Assistant Commissioner Raja. The funds for the same were collected through the Assistant Commissioner’s friends circle and well-wishers.

The workers, who were in the fields of construction, restaurants, spa and salons, were brought together with the help of their association after the lockdown and were lodged at Palavanthangal government community hall.
While the Corporation staff provide them with food every day, Assistant Commissioner Raja was approached by the association after he visited the community hall. The workers were provided with buckets, soap, toothpaste, floor mats, mosquito nets among others.
