I’m used to meeting my students in person and talking to them. After the shutdown, all of that has changed and we’re working in a completely different manner than what we were used to. I honestly thought it would not work out well, but what has happened is that the kids are learning more this way. For example, physical presentations have now been shifted online, so we are teaching them how to use various applications to make their presentations. And the quality keeps getting better every day. I showed my husband one presentation and asked him if he would do something of this quality at his job, and he said no. Some kids, especially the shy ones, have always been afraid of presentations and have been a little less active in participation. What happens now is that these kids are really blossoming. Being in the safe space of their home has really boosted their confidence, and it makes me so happy. With no commute time, I am more accessible to the children. They text me their doubts as and when they have it, and I am able to facilitate a lot faster. The lack of commute means I am less tired, too, and can really focus on the students and what they need. Honestly, there are no downsides to this. I am also eating better and on time these days, so this is a wonderful set-up. While I do miss the face-to-face interactions, the current generation is happy with this, and it is showing good results, and so as an educator, I am very happy.
