First IPS officer to test +ve in TN gets back to the frontline
Three weeks after he became the first IPS rank officer to be infected by coronavirus, the Deputy Commissioner of Anna Nagar returned to work on Monday, and was welcomed by city police Commissioner AK Viswanathan with a basket of flowers.

The officer, MS Muthuswamy, was tested positive for the virus on May 2. Four days later, he was tested negative, following which he was discharged from the hospital. It is said in the police circles that he was got the infection from Koyambedu market complex that emerged as the biggest COVID cluster in the State.
So far, more than 250 police personnel in the city alone were infected by the virus, and were undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Many of them have already been discharged. Commissioner Viswanathan also met two staff at the DC office, who too returned to work after being affected by the infection.
Besides the Commissioner, other senior officers including Additional Commissioners HM Jayaram and Prem Anand Sinha met the DC at his office and conveyed greetings. One additional Commissioner who had tested positive is yet to return to work.
