Would-be hubby takes woman to beauty parlour, escapes with gold

The woman from Teynampet, who works with a travels firm, met the man, identified as Surya Ganesh, on a matrimonial site a few months ago and developed a relationship. Police said her family members knew of their relationship and had planned to get them married.

The incident happened Sunday when the girl had gone to Pallikaranai with her family for a wedding. Surya Ganesh reached the marriage hall and asked the girl to come with him in his bike.

“He took her to a textile showroom in T Nagar and bought her a saree worth 9,500. Later, they went to a beauty parlour to get the girl a facial. Inside the parlour, he asked her to remove her jewels and told her that he would wait in the lobby. But when she returned after the facial, Surya Ganesh was not to be found,” said officials.

The girl tried contact him over phone but both his phone numbers were switched off. Later, she informed her family and a complaint was lodged at Pondy Bazaar police station on Monday.

A case was registered and a hunt has been launched for Surya Ganesh.

The police said that they are trying to trace him with his mobile phone tower location.
